Welcome to Irish Reflexologists' Institute
We are the Irish Reflexologists' Institute (IRI), a self-regulating, member-representative body established in 1985 to represent and promote reflexology in Ireland. Our roots lie in the professional reflexology societies that formed in Ireland in the 1980s, which over time came together to further the practice of reflexology and its professional and ethical standards. Promoting reflexology professionally and maintaining high standards of practice among our members remain at the center of our work.
Membership is open to suitably qualified reflexologists who hold a Certificate of Reflexology from a school accredited by a professional body. We offer three categories: full membership for fully qualified reflexologists, with a discount for new graduates; associate membership for those who are not practicing or have retired; and free student membership for people currently in training. Admission to membership is at the institute's discretion.
Our members agree to be bound by our codes of ethics and practice and to keep up ongoing requirements, including insurance that clearly names reflexology as a covered therapy, a current first aid certificate and continuing professional development (CPD) points each year. We carry out random quality checks of CPD records during the membership year. Together, these requirements form our framework of voluntary self-regulation.
For the public, our Find a Reflexologist directory lists our members by location, continuing our long-standing aim of maintaining a register of practitioners for referral purposes. For members, we run a calendar of CPD events, many held online over Zoom, on topics such as first aid, maternity reflexology and specialist techniques. We publish a list of affiliated course providers for anyone looking to train, support regional networks where members can connect locally, and offer a members' area and a shop with charts, leaflets and CPD resources.
We serve reflexologists across Ireland, with a correspondence address in Dundrum, Dublin 14. To ask about membership, training or events, contact us by email or through our website.
