The National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) represents the Ayurvedic profession in the United States. Incorporated in 2000, our association grew from conversations that began in 1998 among four founders seeking to support Ayurvedic practitioners and preserve classical Ayurvedic education and practice. Today, we bring together professionals, students, educators, and organizations to advance Ayurveda through professional development, an evidence-based approach, community outreach, and collaborative partnerships. Our work supports educational standards, ethical practice, and greater public understanding of Ayurveda. We offer membership options for different stages of learning and professional practice. Through our Professional Ayurvedic Continuing Education (PACE) program, educational events, and annual conference, we help members deepen their knowledge and connect with colleagues. Our public directories help people find Ayurvedic professionals, educational organizations, and state associations. We also established the NAMA Certification Board (NAMACB) to develop and administer professional certification examinations and maintain certification standards. Guided by an elected volunteer board, we work to preserve Ayurveda’s traditional foundations while supporting its responsible development in the United States.
